KAB Foundation

The Kansas Association of Broadcasters Foundation, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support the educational activities of the KAB. It was established by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters in 2003, and along with the KAB, has provided more than $340,000 to 350 Kansas students in the past 24 years.

About KABF

The Kansas Association of Broadcasters Foundation (KABF) is a 501(C)3 nonprofit driven by a mission to provide essential support to both future and current broadcasters. Through scholarships, we help Kansas students at community colleges and universities pursue their passion for broadcasting, reducing financial barriers to their education. Additionally, our Foundation Education Debt Relief Program is designed to assist individuals already working in broadcasting, easing the burden of student loan debt and allowing them to focus on their careers. By investing in the education and financial stability of broadcasters, we ensure a stronger, more vibrant future for the industry.

Summer Sperke

The KAB Foundation has established a $2,000 Education Debt Relief Grant to help ease the financial burdens of individuals working in broadcasting at KAB-member stations who are struggling with student loan debt. This program aims to provide monetary assistance, encourage workforce stability, and promote career longevity within our industry.

All applications must be submitted online by clicking the link below. Applications will be accepted starting January 1 and must be received no later than March 31. The selection committee (composed of the KAB Foundation Board of Trustees) will announce awardees by April 30.

Eligibility Requirements

– Must be employed at a KAB-member station

– Must have worked in the broadcasting industry for a minimum of two years, with at least one year at their current employer.

– Company must be a commercial or non-commercial member of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, whose current dues are paid in full.

Preference will be given to individuals educated in Kansas.

Scholarships

Each year the KAB and KAB Foundation award $30,000 or more in scholarships to college students pursuing careers in media and to kids of Kansas broadcasters.

Broadcast Scholarship Program

By endorsing and supporting quality education, the KAB is helping guarantee the future quality of broadcasting in Kansas. Toward that goal, the KAB has established a scholarship fund to aid in the higher education of promising students.

KAB Kids Scholarships

For children of full time employees at Kansas broadcast stations who are entering their first year of college or technical school.
