Carolyn Long has spent more than four decades telling stories, connecting with communities, and helping viewers make sense of the world around them. Her television news career began in Ohio, and took her from local cable television and CNN’s Washington bureau to news leadership and anchoring roles in Ohio, Connecticut, and Kansas.

In 1996, Carolyn joined KCTV5 in Kansas City, where she became a trusted and familiar presence in the newsroom and on the anchor desk for nearly three decades. Throughout her career, she has covered breaking news, major events, politics, and the everyday stories of people and communities—always with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to journalism.

A graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Mass Communications and minors in Journalism and Political Science, Carolyn has built a career defined not only by longevity, but by the relationships she has formed with viewers, colleagues, and the people whose stories she has had the privilege to tell.

After more than 30 years in broadcasting, Carolyn’s greatest accomplishment may be the trust she earned along the way—and the countless stories that became a part of her life and the lives of those she served.
