The KSHSAA Oscar Stauffer Sportscaster of the Year award winner is Glenn Grunwald, KWBW Eagle Radio in Hutchinson.
The now two-time recipient of the Oscar Stauffer Sportscaster of the Year award, Glen Grunwald has been the “Voice” of the Hutchinson Salthawk sports and the Hutchinson Monarchs Summer Collegiate Baseball Wood Bat League for Eagle Media while stepping aside from his duties of calling Hutchinson Community College Athletics last March.
Grunwald’s love for sports broadcasting began as a hobby in 1985 when college friend Dennis Franz asked him to help with some sports broadcasting for his station in Larned, Kansas. Glen was honored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters in 2017 as the recipient of the Hod Humiston Award for Broadcast excellence. He was also named the Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (KIAAA) Sportscaster of the Year in 2022.
Beginning in 1998, Grunwald joined Eagle Communications in Hutchinson to become the radio “voice” of the Hutchinson Blue Dragons for basketball and color commentator and sideline reporter for football.
Grunwald has also been honored to be chosen as one of three finalist for the National Sports Media Association Sportscaster of the Year for both 2023 and 2024.
Grunwald will receive his award in Hutchinson during the KSHSAA State Basketball Tournament.
