Student Ambassadors

The KAB Ambassador Program exists to increase awareness about the KAB on college campuses, enhance connections between students and Kansas broadcast stations, and to further assist students aspiring to careers in broadcast.

Every Kansas high school and higher education institution
with a journalism/broadcast program is welcome to have students apply. The number of recipients selected per year is subject to change and is dependent upon the availability of funding and the number of applications received. To learn more, email info@kab.net.

KAB Funded Station Internships

The KAB is dedicating financial support to help grow the next generation of Kansas broadcasters. We’re funding internships at TV and radio stations across Kansas. All selected stations will receive $3,000 earmarked for any internship period during the calendar year. Every member station is eligible to receive KAB internship funding once each calendar year.

HOW DOES MY STATION APPLY?
Interested stations should fill out the application form. The application requires stations to outline their vision and goal for the KAB‐funded internship. Submit spring semester internships applications by Dec. 1; summer internship applications by April 1; and fall semester internship applications by July 1. Email info@kab.net to apply.

Broadcast Scholarship

By endorsing and supporting quality education, the KAB is helping guarantee the future quality of broadcasting in Kansas. Toward that goal, the KAB has established a scholarship fund to aid in the higher education of promising students. Kansas Juniors or above at a four-year college; or sophomores at a two-year college; enrolled in a broadcast, journalism, or related degree are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Recipients total up to $20,000 in grants! Deadline to apply is May 1. This form will become available for application submission the week of January 1.

Potter Digital Ambassadors Program

The Potter Digital Ambassadors Program connects KAB member stations with University of Missouri journalism students trained in today’s digital marketing and communication strategies.

Participating stations receive hands-on assistance with social media, digital content, email marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), audience engagement, and other digital initiatives while helping students gain valuable real-world experience.

The 2027 program will take place January 11–15, 2027. Applications are due October 1, 2026.
