Membership

KAB is a statewide organization of radio and television stations working to promote, protect, and enhance the Kansas broadcast industry. Our members are FCC-licensed commercial and non-commercial radio and television broadcast stations whose market or service areas include Kansas counties. We also have Associate Members from organizations interested in broadcasting.

Advocacy: the KAB is the only entity exclusively dedicated to representing Kansas broadcasters at the Statehouse. We also champion federal legislation affecting broadcasters and visit Washington, DC, each year to discuss industry issues with our members of Congress.

Seminars and Conventions: from sales to news to engineering, KAB offers year-round training on a variety of broadcast topics.

Workforce Development: KAB has an online job bank, funds station internships, hosts an annaul seminar for aspiring engineers, sends broadcasters to the NAB Show in Las Vegas each year, and more.

Legal and Regulatory: The KAB offers an Alternate Broadcast Inspection Program, has two hotline attorneys available for member stations (FCC and First Amendment), and offers EEO opportunities throughout the year.

Awards and Celebrations: The KAB offers the Broadcast Excellence Awards program for stations and students. We also honor outstanding broadcasters via our Hall of Fame and individual awards that recognize excellence in sports broadcasting, broadcast sales and community involvement.

Getting Started/The Application

Commercial Stations, your investment in the KAB is based on net sales for the previous year, defined as “gross sales minus agency commissions.” Commonly owned or operated stations (including LMAs), whether in the same market or multiple markets, should pay on the basis of combined revenue of all stations.

Students, retirees, educational institutions, associates and individual professionals are welcome to apply for membership via our “Individual Application.”
