The Manager of Production Services/Executive Producer must demonstrate a willingness to take risks in adopting new technologies and exploration of new methods of production while remaining strongly committed to meeting the demands of a changing television industry.

• Conceptualizes, designs, and implements production strategies for KTWU, employing knowledge of industry trends, production technologies, innovative techniques, and best practices to meet the station’s functional areas’ needs, including but not limited to Programming, Promotion, Traffic, Underwriting, Auction, etc.

• Serves in a leadership capacity with station departments to develop interesting and engaging content for local, regional, national, and international audiences to enhance the station’s image and ensure its long-term success.

• Works with internal and external production agencies to obtain, schedule, and secure equipment and crew; provide technical expertise, direction, scripting, and computer-based editing to achieve production success.

• Works closely with the senior management team to develop and implement projects that create revenue and/or reduce expenses.

Collaborates with the following departments:
• Programming to develop program content that can be utilized on multiple platforms and distributed for various uses (e.g., broadcast, cable, film, social media, satellite, mobile.)

• Development (Major Giving, Underwriting, Membership, Auction, Sales) to ensure production needs are met to achieve financial objectives.

• Promotion and Traffic to facilitate work-flow of station-produced content.

• Engineering to ensure adequate maintenance of production-related equipment and accessories. Facilitates purchase and maintenance of necessary production equipment.

Educational Services provides production support for educational initiatives and outreach opportunities.

• Develops and submits budget recommendations to appropriate staff based on production needs. Monitors expenditures to confirm the appropriate use of funds and support the station’s overall budget.

• Provides staff production support for entrepreneurial ventures and strategic initiatives.

• Researches and recommends production grant opportunities to enhance station programming efforts. Oversees grant administration in concert with station and University staff to ensure appropriate use and management of grant funds.

• Consults and guides independent producers to explain the technical and packaging needs for the KTWU and the PBS System and to assist with producing programming with sufficient quality to maintain the station’s standards and reputation.

• Serves as a spokesperson and community liaison for the station regarding content produced by KTWU for local, regional, national and international distribution.

• Supervises and evaluates the performance of production staff, offering guidance and direction in the day-to-day production operation to maximize employee performance and facilitate professional growth.

• As a team leader and motivator, works to maintain a healthy, fair, and inclusive work environment by promoting diversity, exercising teamwork, and collaboration. Actively promotes a professional workplace culture of mutual respect and collegiality for all members of the institution. Works to build positive and cooperative relationships with staff, encouraging them to work toward individual and departmental goals.

• Accepts items for auction, pledges, and payments. Assists with station events.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Bachelor’s Degree.
Five years of production, film, and/or varied content creation experience.
Supervisory experience.

Preferred: Master’s degree. Seven years’ varied experience in content creation.

Knowledge of producing and directing techniques, field and studio production, current editing technologies, lighting and sound for broadcast, set design, webcasting, blogging, social media, and other digital media.

General knowledge of the dramatic, comedic, and documentary forms, news production, sports production, and producing for new media.
Effective leadership, conceptual and creative skills.
Ability to handle, lift, and/or maneuver equipment weighing as much as 50 pounds.
