KAKE, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas, has an opening for a Maintenance Engineer.  This position is responsible for maintaining the KAKE studio broadcast video and audio electronic equipment, as well as repairing various computer-based editing and automation systems.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Perform maintenance and repairs on various broadcast electronic equipment including satellite electronics, switchers, video cameras, audio mixers, graphics generators, power supplies, lighting systems, and monitors.  This includes troubleshooting and repair of equipment to component level.
Responsible for maintenance and scheduling repairs of company vehicles.
Tasks involving replacement of lights and fixtures, situational clean up, and working with vendors conducting maintenance and repair within the facility.
Assist with repair of computer-based video servers, master control automation systems, and digital switchers.
Assist Chief Engineer with planning and design of new and replacement broadcast electronic and computer systems.
Assist with installation of new equipment into existing plant systems.  Perform equipment tests for technical compliance after installation is complete.
Position involves working with high AC, DC, and RF voltages in transmission equipment.
Must be available for on-call emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum of two-year trade or technical school or Associate’s Degree in the specialized study of electronics theory and maintenance of electronics-based systems.
At least one-year prior experience in broadcast operations (Master Control and VTR).
Experience in maintaining studio broadcast equipment.
Knowledge of computer and networking systems.
Experience with non-linear editing, newsroom, and maser control automation systems.
Good eyesight and hearing, and ability to lift equipment that may exceed 50 pounds.
Position involves working with high AC, DC, and RF voltages in transmission equipment.
General knowledge and experience with mechanical based equipment
