Phil McComb, Kansas Broadcast Company – Southwest
Greetings and Happy New Year fellow broadcasters!
As we move into March, the KAB Board of Directors is preparing for the State Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. This important event allows us to meet with members of Congress and advocate for the policies that shape our industry. One of the important issues we will be discussing with all 6 members of Congress is the revival of AM for Every Vehicle Act. We look forward to advocating for Kansas broadcast and serving you all.
Please consider nominating your sports person at the station for the Hod Humiston award. Being nominated for an award makes a big impact on the person that’s nominated and everyone else at that station. Recognition is important to retaining great talent that create great content. If you know someone deserving of this recognition, be sure to submit a nomination before March 10.
We’re also gearing up for the Student Broadcast and Sports Seminar, returning to Arrowhead Stadium on April 23. Professionals can take advantage of dedicated sessions designed to enhance their own skills. Our sports seminar is a great way to both recruit talent and let your own talent learn and grow. Plus, participating in the Career Fair not only mutually benefits both you and the students—it also counts toward your EEO outreach requirements. Help get the word out about the sports seminar and let’s keep growing it. Registration is now open, so don’t miss out!
Let’s keep working together to make 2025 a great year for Kansas broadcasting!
