Jobs in Broadcasting

Working in radio or television is fun and it's exciting!   It's something different every day.

People who work at broadcast stations often wear several hats, but they generally fall into one of four categories:

  1. Management/Administrative staff
  2. Sales/Sales support/Underwriting
  3. Engineering/Technical
  4. Production/Programming/News

Everyone who works in the broadcasting industry needs a few basic qualities:

  • Good work ethic
  • Positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn
  • Flexibility
  • Dependability

Broadcasting pays big bucks, right?   Maybe, if you’re a network news anchor or sportscaster! In smaller local markets, the pay scale is a little more realistic. Don’t expect to be offered a six-figure salary in your first job, but you can earn a good living. And it’s FUN!
